I’ve been experiencing some changes lately that bother me slightly. It all started in the car a few months ago. The family and I were driving, to who know where, when I noticed my wife staring at me. Not one of those “I love you” stares more like W.T.Flip stares. She reaches up and pulls out a pinch of hair from my ear, from my freakin’ ear. Normally I would shrug it off as one of those strange wild hairs that just pop up from time to time in various places. No, there’s more than one of these things, practically a forest was growing out of my ear. Have you ever seen one of those nature shows where monkeys are picking at each others fur and examining the results? Bingo. After the ear trauma I notices other strange things. Hair growing from the tip of my nose was the next place. Fine, I remove it only to notice that a week later they’ve multiplied. Now there are eight. Finally last night, while scratching my back, I felt “fur” where there was previously nothing. I am now completely convinced that I am turning into a Hobbit, that or a werewolf.

Lauren had a birthday party to attend this past Saturday, so we took the little ones bowling for the first time. We have a Wii at home (as most people do) that came with a bowling game. The kids love to bowl so much on the game system I thought it would be a good idea to try it out in real life. After the first frame of the first game it was evident that the Wii is rigged to be easy. Real life bowling takes much more skill and there are no “do overs”. My first two throws went toward the gutter, I stink. Notice I didn’t say in the gutter, thank God for bumper bowling. It has been nearly 10 years since I bowled and there have been some great improvements to the game. I never knew there was a guide to help you bowl straight. Cheating can be fun and help improve your overall score. Win, win. My parents stopped by and we convinced my dad to bowl a game. He actually scored a 109. Not bad since it has been over 30 years since his last game. Ginny bowled great! She actually bowled more strikes than anyone. I attribute her throwing prowess to all the practice she has had throwing heavy objects at me with great accuracy. I wasn’t born with this lumpy head.

I forgot to post this picture on Christmas Eve. I’m not sure what the odds are, but each Christmas Eve a plane will fly over our house at exactly the time the kids are getting ready for bed. This will make the 5th year in a row it has happened. We always go outside around 9:00 to look for Rudolophs’ nose and every year we see it. It looks like a tiny, flashing, red light. The kids scream, run around and scream some more. This is not the preferred activity if you’re trying to settle them down before bed, but it’s fun to watch.
